activities The Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences is a Research Unit labelled by the French National Scientific Research Center (CNRS) gathering research scientists, engeneers, technicians and administration staff from three institutions : the CNRS, the University of Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO) and University of Lille, based on three sites (Wimereux, Dunkerque and Villeneuve d'Ascq) in Northern France (Hauts de France region).<br>The research activities are&nbsp;mainly based in the English Channel and North Sea, but cover sites all around the world, with some special focus on Southern Ocean, French Guiana and Amazon systems, Vietnam, Mediterranean Sea,&nbsp;&nbsp;South America and Australia.<br>The research areas covered are Marine Biodiversity and Ecology (at different temporal and spatial scales,&nbsp;both Pelagics and Benthic, from estuaries to offshore systems and open ocean and global), marine Physics and Optics (with special emphasis on turbulence, modelling hydrodynamics, and remote sensing algorithms and follow-up of main biogeochemistry features) as well as Littoral Morphodynamics, Geochemistry of different systems at interfaces&nbsp;and structural Geology and Tectonics.&nbsp;
